Hello Peter: Introducing one of our Software Engineers

You know, as most entrepreneurs do, that a company is only as good as its people. The hard part is actually building the team that will embody your company culture and propel you forward.” - Kathryn Minshew, The Muse

At NUITEQ, we believe that we have built a great team that includes diverse skillful people, who embody our company’s culture, and actively contribute to our success.

Today, we'd like to introduce to you another member of our team: Peter Wallström.

Q: Hi Peter! Please tell our readers a bit about yourself.

A: My name is Peter Wallström and I work as a NUITEQ Software Engineer, at our headquarters in Skellefteå.

I have worked here for two years and before that, I studied Computer Graphics at the Luleå Technical University. I have also been involved in teaching, web design, electronics, and served in the army for a year.

Q: What does your role at NUITEQ entail, what are the best and least favourite things about it?

A: My main role here at NUITEQ, as a part of the development team, is to write our software, fix problems with it, and make it as good as it possibly can be.

In addition, I do a little bit of everything around the office such as installing software, hardware, and fixing computers.

The best part is that I get to work with a really talented team. My colleagues here at NUITEQ are great. I really think that the environment in our company helps, both from a development perspective but also from a personal one.

My least favorite thing is when things need to be rushed as I like to do things methodically.

Thankfully it is something that rarely happens.

Q: What are some motivation factors when it comes to your job?

A: I like to solve problems, it is something that I do at work, at home, and even in the games I play.

It gives me a deep sense of accomplishment to think about a problem, solve it, test it out, and then implement it. Especially if it improves someone's life in some way.

Here at NUITEQ, there is always something new and interesting to do, and I get to do it with the best team ever.

Q: How about outside of the office? What occupies your free time?

A: I am a bit of a tinkerer, I have dozens of unfinished software and hardware projects at home and a handful I'm actively working on.

Currently I do a lot of work on my 3d-printer, I am trying to learn CAD and a bit of industrial design so that I can make new and interesting functional and/or decorative things for everyone to make at home, but for now, I mostly modify and improve other people's designs.

One of my recently completed projects was that I printed myself a radio- controlled car found online; sure the wheels tend to shear off when it goes to fast, but it's a good start.

I am also doing a bit of Arduino and other electronics tinkering, and I'm planning to do some home automation in the future.

Besides all the above, I am also an amateur photographer and I like to take pictures of nature, city, things, and people.
