In August, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden visited Västerbotten, the province in the North of Sweden, of which cities like Skellefteå and Umeå are part of. The visit was a part of a program for his Majesty to celebrate his 40 years on the throne of this beautiful country.
Landshövdingen (County Governor) Magdalena Andersson had invited a select group of people from the region to attend an evening dinner together with the King and Queen at the County Governors residency in Umeå.
I was invited to represent NUITEQ, as the County Governor had invited politicians and regional entrepreneurs to the dinner for the Royal couple to meet these people and experience what types of companies are active in this region, which is everything ranging from traditional industry companies till innovative technology companies.
Being from Holland, I've always been interested in Kingdoms. As a kid growing up, I was often intruiged by stories of knights, castles, medieval times, medieval weaponry, Kingdoms in general, the United Kingdom and Robin Hood. Ok I'm drifting off :)
If you are into royal families, I'd really recommend you to visit the castle Tower of London, next to the Tower Bridge, it offers you an amazing experience how things were in a kingdom several 100 years ago.
It was an absolute honour and pleasure to be part of a small select group of people to have dinner with the County Governor and the King and Queen. An experience that I will always cherish and carry with me the rest of my life.
