How to setup the e-mail functionality in Snowflake Suite

Within Snowflake Suite (the Ultimate Edition) there is an e-mail functionality inside Media Viewer to email content such as images, videos, PDF brochures etc.

Furthermore the Annotation layer has support to email annotations.

In order to use the email functionality in the Media Viewer and/or Annotation layer, you have to setup your email settings in the Configuration Editor that comes pre-installed with Snowflake.

Start the Configuration Editor and click on the "Mail and Proxy" tab.

In the example below, we used a Gmail account as a reference:

Server: Domain name or ip address of your server, in most cases it something in the form of smtp.. or mail..

Port: Port of the mail server, usually 25 for No Security, 465 for SSL and 587 for TLS

Security: Type of security for the connection, either No Security, SSL or TLS. Which you will need to use depends on what your e-mail provider supports

Username: Your username for the e-mail service, will vary depending on your e-mail service provider. In some cases it's the part of your e-mail before the @, in some cases it's your entire e-mail address and in some cases it is something completely unrelated to your e-mail address.

Password: Your e-mail password

E-mail address: This is the "from" address that will be shown on your e-mails sent from Snowflake Suite

Sender name: This is the name that will be shown as "from" on your e-mails sent from Snowflake Suite

Reply-to address: This is the address that will be used if someone presses "Reply" to your e-mail in their e-mail client. If left empty it will use the address specified in the "E-mail address" field for this as well

Subject: Subject of e-mails sent from the Annotation Layer in Snowflake (The subject line for the Media Viewer is specified under Applications -> Media Viewer)

Proxy settings
The proxy settings are not related to the usage of email, so you can ignore those for setting up the e-mail functionality.
The proxy settings are optionally used for applications that use the internet such as the Multitouch browser, Google Maps or Spacetube.
